Houston, we have a problem…..

We are slowly emerging from our troubleshooting/programming/putting-out-fires caves and looking around…

Well?

Have we weathered the storm?  Do we still have a problem?

The problems seem to all have been resolved to the best of our ability and to the best of our knowledge.

One casualty of InstantCashSweepstakes.com 2.0, however,  is Internet Explorer, version 6.

To those of you still using it, we are truly sorry, but we wanted to outline exactly why we cannot support this browser:

Internet Explorer 6 was released in 2001.

Security advisory site Secunia, as recently as Jan 2009, reports 142 vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer 6.

22 of those security holes are unpatched, and some of them are fairly critical.

IE6 also lacks support for alpha transparency in PNG images:

(This will sound familiar to some of you!)

The way IE6 handles PNG images is to remove all transparency and show the image with a gray background. Hmmmmm….

IE6 also has issues due to its general instability.

Since IE6 lacks compatibility with most modern web standards, other websites are also removing support for IE6, including YouTube.

We weighed all the factors together, and came to the unavoidable conclusion that we simply can’t make our new site work exactly right when using IE6.

If you have to use Internet Explorer version 6, you can still use our website! You just won’t have the optimum visual experience.

We encourage all of you to consider using an updated or even a different browser, such as, but not limited to:

IE7, or even better, IE8

Mozilla Firefox

Google Chrome

Safari

You can always reach us at instantcashsweepstakes@gmail.com if you are having ongoing problems.

Some quick things to try before you do that:

Check to see if there are any updates available for your browser.

Clear out your internet temporary files (not cookies).

If you are using a bookmark, delete it and re-type in the URL, then re-bookmark the site.

If all else fails, write us with 1) browser name and version, 2) Operating System, 3) PC or Mac, and 4) a screenshot of the issue.

All things considered, we consider the launch of our beta InstantCashSweepstakes.com 2.0 site to be a success, we are excited about the future, and we appreciate and applaud this great community!

Thank you all for your feedback and help and patience in getting this fun new site launched!
